One of the biggest modern names in Ottawa’s rock scene is ending their career after over a decade of music, but it’s not exactly the end.

The Balconies, now Jacquie Neville and Liam Jaeger, are deciding to retire the band, with 2016’s Rhonda as their last official release.
As it stands now, the pair seem to be looking at working together in the future but will be focusing on behind the scenes aspects of the industry like writing and production.

The band have also referred to managing these efforts under the Balconies Collective, but their performance futures are unclear for now.

They have offered fans more than just a press release, in fact they’re going out with quite a few gifts. The band recently released their 2009 “self-titled” album, along with Show You from 2012, both of which were recorded but never released.

They’re also giving fans one last chance to see them, with a farewell show in Toronto on February 1, and two final shows in Ottawa at the 27 Club, February 2 and 3 titled “The Last Lunge.”
